Even healthy granola from the store will be made with soy or canola oil, both of which you may not want to have even more of in your diet because of genetic modifications in the originating crop and processing damage to both.  This recipe uses heart healthy grapeseed or avocado oil and real, organic butter in its most natural form.  The taste is delicious, and you can add any of your favorite nuts, seeds, or dried fruits. You can make this batch and store it in an airtight container for many mornings to come!

Ingredients:

6 cup(s) oats -- organic
2 cup(s) flaked cereal -- organic
2 cup(s) chopped nuts -- pecans, walnuts, almonds, etc.
1 tsp salt
6 tbsp butter -- organic
6 tbsp grapeseed oil -- or avocado oil
3/4 cup(s) maple syrup -- or combine with honey
1 cup(s) dried fruit -- dates, raisins, cranberries, apricots, etc.

Directions

1.  Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Mix oats, cereal, nuts and salt together.

2.  Pour melted butter, oil and syrup over the mixture and toss to combine.

3.  Bake in large, shallow baking pan (jelly roll pan) for 45 min., stirring every 15 min.

4.  Add dried fruits and any seeds you prefer.  Cool completely to let it get crunchy before storing in an airtight container.
