Omega 3 Buttered Walnuts
Serves:
Time Required: 7 (15 min. total)

Who said eating omega 3 had to be fishy?  Walnuts are one of the top three omega 3 fatty acid providers alongside cold water fish and flax seed.  Personally, this is the only one I would like to have caramelized!  If you’re a pecan fan, they substitute here very well.  This is a nice treat to put in a pretty bowl for snacking when guests are over.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp brown sugar -- or sucanat
2 tbsp maple syrup
2 cup(s) walnuts

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Melt butter in small pan and add sugar and syrup.  Cook until it bubbles, then add nuts.  Stir constantly for two minutes.

3. Lightly grease a baking sheet and spread nuts out.

4. Bake 8-9 minutes, then cool for 30 minutes and store in airtight container.

5. Salt very lightly to taste while warm.
